The author says that he had two parents, one rich and the other poor. One was very educated and intelligent, the other never completed high school. Both were successful in their careers and worked hard throughout their lives, earning considerable income. However, one has always faced difficulties and the other has become the richest man in Hawaii.
While the poor father said not to call money because it was not important, the rich father said, money is power. He noted that his poor father was not poor because of the money he earned, which was a lot, but because of his thoughts and actions.
One of the reasons why the rich get richer, the poor poorer, and the middle class struggles with debt is that the subject of money is not taught either at home or at school. Many learn about money from their parents. The poor father tells his son to stay in school and study hard.
